What Customers Say About That Lucky Old Sun:

There's no autotuner used, and the harmonies were sung in a group, not individual tracks. It's a love poem to his beloved Southern California, and it evokes the memories of those carefree days of woodies and surfboards. These days it's hard to find artists who do it from the gut. You just don't get that anymore.SMiLE was a chance to put away his demons of the past, and this album lets him look back fondly at the past, something I don't think he could have done before. It's a true joy to listen to.This may not be Brian at his greatest, but it's a great deal better than the dreck currently played on many radio stations these days. Brian Wilson is one of those guys. He sings with his own voice, with all it's warts.

I got the CD three days after I ordered it. This is a pretty good CD that show cases the brilliance of Brian Wilson and his ability to orchestrate voices and music. The shipper/supplier was great.

The rest of the songs were written or co-written by Wilson. This album by Brian Wilson was released in September of 2008. It's a very good album which Brian Wilson's fans will enjoy. The album had been described as a love letter to Los Angeles, and that's a pretty accurate description. It is a concept album about life in Southern California. The pop standard "That Lucky Old Sun" serves as an overture to the album, and bits of that song are reprised throughout the album.

Brian Wilson still is a great writer and the songs sound fresh, not just old Beach Boys retreads. I enjoyed this CD very much.

He writes music. Brian's music is unlike much of what is being produced in pop music today. They think that the computer generated sounds they produce is music, but it is not.

He modulates from key to key flawlessly and allows the listener to find new excitement in his music with each listen. His non-stop transition from Good Kind of Love to Forever she'll be my Surfer Girl is remarkable. There will undoubtedly be people who don't get his music, and the reason they don't get it is because they have been subject to the current wave of horrible excesses for music. What Brian produces here is magic. I had to play that over and over again, it was so good.

There are not many people in popular music today who actually write music. He takes what could be a basic pop song and adds complicated harmonies, detailed rhythmic patterns and a wide aray of instrumentation. If you feel as if current music is letting you down as a listener, then this is for you.

And then there is Brian Wilson.Brian is a musician. That Lucky Old Sun is by far the best non-classical CD to be produced in years.
